Jonathan Amoia: A Distinguished Financial Leader

For more than twenty years, Jonathan Amoia, a Certified Private Wealth Advisor, has distinguished himself through steady leadership and principled professionalism across the financial services industry. As Founder and Managing Director of Advocate Wealth, he leads a private wealth boutique dedicated to delivering fully integrated financial solutions. The firm provides strategic financial planning, carefully curated investment oversight, tax-conscious estate coordination, succession and exit planning, financial heir coaching, family office services, and intentional next-generation wealth transition strategies.

Jonathan’s approach reflects a belief that wealth management should be both technical and deeply personal. By aligning financial decisions with long-term family values and goals, he helps clients build clarity and confidence about their financial futures.

Guiding Families Across Generations

Beyond technical expertise, Amoia is committed to helping families navigate the complexities of intergenerational wealth. He recognizes that financial capital is only one part of a family’s legacy. Equally important are shared purpose, communication, and preparation for leadership transitions.

Working closely with high-net-worth and entrepreneurial families, Jonathan Amoia addresses potential areas of conflict and uncertainty that can arise as wealth moves from one generation to the next. His work focuses on fostering understanding, strengthening governance, and equipping heirs with the knowledge and perspective necessary to steward resources responsibly. Through thoughtful planning and open dialogue, he helps families define not only how wealth will be transferred, but also why it exists and what it is meant to accomplish.

Academic Foundations and Early Leadership

Jonathan’s leadership journey began at SUNY New Paltz, where he served as Student Body President. In that role, he demonstrated accountability, initiative, and a commitment to service. He graduated with honors, earning a Bachelor of Science degree and establishing the groundwork for a career rooted in responsibility and impact.

Amoia later completed his MBA at the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business at the University of Rochester. This advanced education sharpened his financial expertise and strategic thinking, preparing him for increasingly complex roles within the financial sector.

Institutional Experience and Entrepreneurial Focus

Jonathan Amoia began his professional career at Citigroup, one of the world’s leading global banks. There, he managed trading responsibilities for more than 60 institutional clients representing over $1 trillion in investable assets. The experience provided exposure to sophisticated markets and institutional-level strategy, strengthening his analytical discipline and client-service mindset.

In 2014, Jonathan joined Sandhill as a Partner and Managing Director. In this role, he further refined his focus on entrepreneurial families, developing personalized strategies that connected wealth creation with long-term family vision and continuity.

Professional Recognition and Community Commitment

Amoia earned the CPWA designation from the Yale School of Management and the CEPA designation from the Exit Planning Institute, further reinforcing his specialization in advising business owners and complex family enterprises. He has been recognized on Forbes lists, including Next Gen Best-In-State Wealth Advisors and Best-In-State Wealth Advisors, in multiple years.

Outside of his professional work, Jonathan Amoia serves as a board member for several organizations in Buffalo, New York. His dedication to community involvement reflects the same sense of stewardship and leadership that defines his work with families.
